The gorgeous look and genuine telephony experience of the Swissvoice ePure Mobile make it a holiday gift that’s ideal for any design-lover’s desk. They’ll use it to talk, charge their phone, or play their favorite tunes.
Why We Love It
Talking on your phone has never felt so good. Beyond just aesthetically pleasing looks, the ePure utilizes fluid dynamic principles that force sound waves through a bottleneck and then are expelled into a larger chamber to increase sound quality. The result is impressively rich audio during calls, and stereo sound for music that you just wouldn’t expect from a device so small. Everything on the ePure Mobile is extremely well thought out, from the light and easy to hold soft rubber handset, to the subtle and friendly startup and pairing audio cues.
The ePure Mobile includes a base charging station that charges both the ePure handset and your cell phone (or any < 1amp USB device). Pairing the ePure to your cell phone (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, or Blackberry) is extremely easy and is definitely the primary use-case, but don’t shy away from pairing it to your computer. It makes a great handset for Google Talk or Skype calls. When you do pair to your phone, you’ll be able to take advantage of the cool Bluetooth profiles that allow you to see the ePure’s battery level directly on your phone. With full support for Siri iOS voice commands and music playback control (Play/Pause/Next/Previous) using the LED illuminated directional pad, you’ll always have easy access to the controls you need most. And for quick changes to volume, you’ll find conveniently placed buttons on the side of the handset that are easy to locate while on a call. To charge the ePure, just place it on the base station and you’ll get a full charge to the 1000mAh lithium-polymer battery in three hours. Once fully charged, you’ll be able to play music for three and a half hours, talk for six hours, or leave it on standby for almost a whole month.
While the jury is still out on the effects of cell phone radiation, no one is going to argue that less EMR (electromagnetic radiation) is a bad thing. One of the primary design goals of the ePure was to build a wireless handset that kept EMR to a minimum. Using their “Fulleco” technology, Swissvoice was able to keep the SAR (specific absorption rate) to below .010 W/kg which makes the ePure one of the best cordless options on the market.
On cell phone network providers that support HD Voice protocols (mainly in Europe, but coming to the USA slowly), ePure’s HD voice technology expands the frequency range from the highly compressed 400Hz and 4,000 Hz normal range for voice calls, to a much wider range of 50Hz to 7,000 Hz that provides a far more realistic sounding conversation. Luckily, if you are using Skype, Google Talk, or any other Voip application, you can take advantage of this technology even if your cell phone provider hasn’t implemented HD Voice.
Why We Love It
We love beautiful industrial design, so when we laid eyes on the Swiss designed ePure we were truly hoping that it worked as amazingly as it looked. Luckily the long standing line of Swiss heritage has delivered once again.
The ePure embodies Swissvoice's mission to focus on the simplicity of the conversation. It is minimalist and beautiful, terrifically versatile and allows you to forget all noise. As the traditional landline is not so slowly replaced by the smartphone, we are happy to have a comfortable and radiation reducing alternative.
And just as it’s packed beauty and usefulness into one package, it’s also capable of swiftly switching between business and pleasure. From a little late night gaming to that 10 person conference call at 4pm on a Friday, it’s ready for whatever we need. This is a Grand St. product that you will not want to miss.
