Why We Love It
Your car, like the human body, is an incredible machine. The Automatic smart driving assistant is like a fitness tracker for your vehicle, harnessing data from its onboard computer to optimize what it means to be a car owner and driver. Automatic gives you a toolkit to help you make small changes in driving habits that can lead to big changes over time.
It’s easy to get started using Automatic. Download the Automatic app (for iOS, Android in public beta), create a new account, and walk through the simple setup process. Plug your Automatic into the standard diagnostic port in your car and it will wirelessly transmit data to your phone whenever you drive. Automatic uses Bluetooth LE (for iOS) or Bluetooth 2.0 (for Android), and is compatible with almost every gasoline-powered car sold in the United States since 1996 (check your car's compatibility here). You can connect up to 5 cars to one Automatic account, so long as each car has its own Automatic.
Automatic observes your driving habits and sends subtle alerts to your phone when you exhibit certain gas-wasting behaviors, such as hard braking, rapid accelerating, and speeding. By monitoring these activities, and keeping your informed about them, Automatic helps you form habits that save the average car owner up to $800 per year on gas. Automatic also keeps track of your trips, measuring distance, route, and MPG, even on older models without fuel-efficiency displays. It even detects fill-ups and captures local gas prices to show you how much you’re spending on fuel.
Automatic also tracks engine diagnostics, and let you know what’s up when the “Check Engine” light flashes on. By relaying information about what’s happening under the hood, owners can save the $100 diagnostic fee many mechanics charge. And, using your phone’s GPS, Automatic conveniently remembers where you park.
Regardless of where you’re driving, Automatic uses all of its features to takes care of you. Automatic is able detect if you’re in a crash, call center agents will call you, notify emergency services, and call your loved ones, staying on the line with you to make sure that help arrives. Why We Love It
If you’re a car owner, or know a car owner, you know what a special member of the family a vehicle can be. We love how we can take care of our automobiles using technology, making sure they’re healthy, cost effective, and operating at their highest potential. Cars collect a TON of data (yes, even the older ones), and it’s all valuable stuff that can help influence the way we drive. Automatic hardware plugs right into the car’s standard diagnostic port you probably didn’t know was there, and is powered by that port, so no cords or plugs are required.
One of our favorite things about Automatic is the ability to save us buckets of money on gas. Hard braking, rapid accelerating, and speeding can cost a lot of cake. We love how the Automatic app subtlely nudges us to stop showing off that horse power and think about our wallets. Plus, the GPS tracking is an amazing feature. Whether we’re holiday shopping or navigating neighborhood streets after a college town football game, Automatic saves us a lot of time and frustration by remembering where we park.
